Lima is the gateway to Peru's treasures.

Called the 'Cuidad de los Reyes ' for the Spanish Conquestadores. Founded in 1535 by Francisco Pizarro in the Rimac Valley, lima sits on land which had been a site of previous Inca domination. Today Lima is the capital of the Republic of Peru with a population of 6.3 million inhabitants.

Historically , Lima is the link to the colonial past from Spain with it being the most important city in South America concentrating the colonies trade during the XVII & XVIII centuries. During these colonial times the city was walled & heavily guarded as from here, the gold & silver the Conquestadores plundered was stored prior to it being shipped back to Spain.

You will find imposing colonial construction like the Government Palace, religious edificios such as the Convent San Francisco & magnificent museums that expose the complete image of the ancient culture, archaeology, history, art & pre-Inca locations which have been meticulously conserved & restored. Places such as Pachacamac , Puruchuco, Cajamarqyuilla & Huaca Pucallana lead a list that includes many others like them.

Lima has a modern hotel & tourism support infra-structure, a great variety of attractions & excellent restaurants in which an exquisite array of Peruvian foods prevail.

Places of interest to visit here include :
- Rimac, an urban center which is home to the magnificent Plaza de Toros de Acho
( Bullfight Plaza of Acho ) & many other colonial buildings & museums.
- Barranco is a district of Lima noted for its poets, artists & bohemians & at night offers many cultural & folklore shows.
- San Isidro & Miraflores, two districts that are the center for the more modern parts of Lima & where the best hotels, restaurants, shopping malls , banking & commerce are to be found.

Your included Lima city tour will visit Plaza de Armas, the Convent San Francisco to view the unique cloisters & artistic jewels it contains, then to the Government Palace. You will be taken to Casa Aliaga, one of the best examples of preserved colonial mansions & finally, through the districts of Miraflores & San Isidro before returning to your hotel. This tour will acquaint you with the city, its highlights & historical significance.

However, the most important thing you will find in Lima is the warmth & hospitality that the people you will encounter , will provide.
