Day 1 - Arrive
Comodoro Rivadavia
Meet & transfer from Comodoro Rivadavia airport to
Hotel. Accommodation at hotel Lucania Palazzo for 1
night. This afternoon is at leisure.
Day 2 - Sarmiento's petrified
woods
(B) Excursion to the José Ormaechea Petrified
Forest, a geologic reserve formed by fossilized coniferous
trees 60 million years old. The scenery is completed
by magnificent structures within the Moon's Valley &
the Cerros Colorados (Red hills). Lunch is included
at a local farm in Sarmiento with a traditional asado
patagónico (Patagonian barbecue) & delicious
Rio Senguer trout being served Then continue onto Los
Antiguos, & overnight at the lodge Hosteria Los
Antiguos. (D)
Day 3 - Posadas Lake
(B) After breakfast depart from Los Antiguos & follow
on the Argentina side of the Cordillera de los Andes
mountains, continuing the shores of Rios Zeballos &
crossing creeks & beautiful cascading streams arriving
at Posadas Lake. Here overnight at a typical working
"estancia" or ranch for 2 nights. (D).
Day 4 - Posadas Lake to Cerro
San Lorenzo
(B) Today a visit to Cerro San Lorenzo, with its 3706m
high towering peak, the highest of Santa Cruz province.
After crossing Rio Oro, commence a horse back ride to
Cascada El Salto, in which you will traverse the Millenial
Forest of Nires & Lengas, with trees 1000 years
old. If time allows, reach the base of Cerro San Lorenzo,
where there are thermal waters, still in their most
natural state, unaltered by humans. Late afternoon,
return by road to the "estancia" at Posadas
Lake where dinner awaits. (D)
Day 5 - Rock Art Caves
(B) After breakfast departalong route 40 towards the
"Manos Pintadas" Caves, declared ¨Humankind
Heritage¨ by UNESCO. Visit the Rio Pinturas Canyon,
a spiritual site of the largest collection of rock art
paintings found in South America dating back 9000 years
. Enjoy a picnic lunch & then continue BY road to
Estancia Telken, where your accommodation is for 1 night.
Day 6 - Return to Comodoro Rivadavia
(B) After breakfast this morning tour the Estancia before
starting out back to Comodoro Rivadavia for your onward
flight.
