7
days - 6 nights
Specifically for
nature lovers & those who delight in the outdoors,
this itinerary combines an abundance of marine mammals
& sealife, with the backdrop of Patagonian landscapes.
Puerto Madryn has colonies of penguin, seal & sea
elephants while in the sheltered bay & inlets of the
Valdes peninsula, several species of whales -"ballenas''
in Spanish - gather to frolic, mate & bear their young
at differing times of the year.
Right at the very tip of the South American continent
lies Ushuaia, the southern most city on the planet &
home to a generation of hardy individuals who revel
in the outdoors be it with summer, or winter adventure
pursuits. An area sculptured in its turbulent geological
history by fire & ice, this is the gateway to the
Beagle Channel & the point that mariners dread rounding,
on their way from the Pacific into the Atlantic ocean.
This & the general region to the north is called 'Patagonia',
renown for the Glaciares National Park & the Perito
Moreno & Upsala glaciers. These amazing rivers of
frozen water wend their way down two huge valleys to
conclude in an azure lake. Access to the terminal face
of the glacier is a spectacular boat excursion - a not
to be missed highlight.

on land Sea Elephants. In the months of June through

Quite literally, this is the southern most point of
the South American continent & only a short journey

of daylight & from here, the Aurora Borealis is often
witnessed with its spectacular & dazzling nighttime
light show.

is dominated by mountains of the southern Andes chain
that extend as far as the eye can see. Parque Los Glaciares
has been declared by UNESCO as a Natural World Heritage
area . The Puerto Moreno glacier, with a terminal front
of some 5 kms wide, drops off into Lago Argentino &
the huge chunks that constantly break loose form floating
icebergs many times the size of large buildings above
the surface of the lake. This makes for spectacular
photo opportunities & is a day excursion to remember.
