  Inca Journey & Lake Titicaca

3 days - 2 nights

Because La Paz is located at 3580 metres above sea level, we urge you to consult qualified medical advice prior to traveling as for some people, extreme altitude sickness can have serious effects. You will find it necessary to take things slowly acclimatizing & the intake of water & non-alcoholic fluids is essential to your well being.

Bolivia is generally a country where everybody dresses comfortably, casually but sensibly for the region they are in. Appropriate dress for La Paz with its extremes of altitude calls for warm clothes year round, especially in the evenings & at night after dark.

Day 1 La Paz

You will be met on arrival at LA Paz airport & transferred to your city hotel. Take things easy today & above all, slowly acclimatize as this city is at 11740 feet above sea level & the air is much thinner requiring more oxygen to do what comes naturally to you, in day to day life at home.

Day 2 La Paz sightseeing

( B) A city tour of La Paz includes a number of cultural highlights, among the Indian markets where the locals display arts, crafts & textile products all reasonably priced. Onto the open air Museum at Tiwanaku, followed by a visit to the witch doctor markets where potions & amulets are aplenty. La Paz is known as the "City of Contracts" as there are many of these markets set against the backdrop of the towering Andes mountains. Lastly, you will visit the mysterious Moon Valley before being returned to your hotel.

The remainder of the day is free for you to explore the city at your leisure. Tonight, you will be taken to a typical "Pena"- native dance & musical entertainment. It includes entrance plus one drink per person with transfers from your hotel, return

Day 3 Depart La Paz
(B) After breakfast, transfer to the La Paz airport for your onward flight .

Included Features :
· Two nights hotel accommodation - rooms with private facilities
· Half day tour of La Paz city including the markets & Valley of the Moon
· Evening 'Pena' native dance & musical entertainment.
· Meals as specified ( B - breakfast)

Note : It is possible to extend your stay in La Paz for another night & take in a full day excursion to Lake Titicaca. Those persons wishing to extend their stay by one day, can do so by substituting the day excursion below for Day 3, staying that evening in La Paz & transferring to the airport the following morning on what will be day 4.

Inca Journey & Lake Titicaca

The coach will collect you from your hotel & head off towards Huatajata, where breakfast will be served. Stop at the Altiplano museum with its array of archeological & anthropological treasures of the Tiwanaku Inca Kingdom from the high plateau regions. The disappearance of the Tiwanaku Incas has never been sufficiently explained & they remain somewhat of a mystery still today.

You will see first hand, full sized replica boats of the Ra II & Tigris, - vessels used on the much publicized Thor Heyerdhal expeditions, made of woven reeds. Continue onto Copacabana by hydrofoil cruise on Lake Titicaca, to visit the Sun & Moon Islands & to see the Inca ruins. Lunch is included at Copacabana. This evening, retrace your steps to return to La Paz & your overnight hotel accommodation.
