Day 1 - Arrive Nairobi, Kenya
It is necessary to arrive
to Nairobi International Airport & spend the first
night in the Nairobi Serena Hotel before starting out
on your adventure. On arrival you will be met outside
of the Customs Hall & transferred by private vehicle
to the hotel. Nairobi is a bustling city with ample
evidence of its past British colonial heritage. Dependant
on the time of your arrival & subsequent check into
to your hotel, the Botanical Gardens are world renown
& well worthy of your taking a leisurely wander
or the central markets offer many opportunities to purchase
local art & crafts.
Day 2 & 3 -
Amboseli National Park
This morning after breakfast
you will check out & be transferred to the airport
for a flight to Amboseli. On arrival you will be met
& transferred to Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge, located
in the shadow of Mt Kilimanjaro. This will be your base
for the next two nights.
The Lodge is located beside
groves of giant acacia trees & a gently flowing
natural spring. It is considered one of Africa’s
finest moderately priced safari lodges offering excellent
standard accommodation, each of the 96 Ivory class rooms
having private en suite facilities & decorated in
traditional African style conveying a distinctive Masai
Manyatta mood.
The surrounding landscape
habitat is heavily populated by plains game. Wildebeest,
zebra, gazelle, buffalo, elephant, giraffe, baboon &
the inevitable cast of predators who follow them ; lion,
hyena, cheetah & leopard.
There is a floodlit waterhole,
open air dining room that serves sumptuous meals &
a full service bar that remains open until the last
guests drift off to their quarters for a good nights
rest. During the heat of the day, guests can enjoy a
cooling dip in the pool & a small bar nearby provides
refreshments at beck & call. Game drive activities
are provided daily in specially designed safari vehicles,
hosted by a professional local guide.
Day 4 & 5 -
Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area
Departing by road after
breakfast, it is first to the International border crossing,
then proceeding into Tanzania with our destination being
the millions of years old Ngorongoro Crater. The journey
today will take approx 6 hours including Immigration
clearances so sit back, relax & enjoy the scenic
drive which is likened to a game drive as we will pass
through many areas of wild animal habitat.
The Ngorongoro Serena Safari
Lodge is built into the rim of the ancient crater, overlooking
the enormity of the floor far below. The building is
of stone construction which blends it into the surrounds
& most all guest rooms have an uninterrupted view
of the crater floor that abounds in animal, bird, reptile
& insect species. Due to the prevailing cool climate,
lounge & dining areas are indoors overlooking the
crater. The Lodge is at 6000 feet above sea level &
all areas are complimented by log fire places that greatly
enhance the atmosphere.
Game drives are carried
out daily with early morning departures & picnic
lunches catered for. The plethora of animal & bird
species that call Ngorongoro Crater their permanent
home is enormous. Because of year round water supplies
& varying eco system habitat, here you will find
plains game alongside a recovering population of black
rhino, elephant, giraffe, zebra, & a wide range
of predators of which, the lion prides are especially
active.
Day 6 & 7 -
Serengeti National Park
Departing Ngorongoro Crater
after breakfast by road, today you head to the Serengeti
National Park & Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge for
two nights.
Almost nowhere else in Africa can guests expects to
see more big game than in the Serengeti. In the center
of the plains, set high on a hill overlooking the sweeping
almost endless grasslands, Serena Safari Lodge enjoys
an incomparable location. Game drives are undertaken
daily, hosted by a professional local guide in especially
designed safari vehicles.
Inspired by a traditional
Maasai village, separate rondavel huts house the luxury
guest rooms. Uniquely crafted wooden framed beds &
craftsmen who have maximised local materials make these
guest quarters very special. Each of the Ivory class
rooms has its own self contained private shower &
toilet & a balcony offering superb views.
International & traditional
African cuisine is prepared by an array of professional
chefs & the guest lounge & bars provide for
places to sit quietly, relax, read or intermingle with
other folks from around the globe.
Day 8 - Return
to Nairobi
Departing after breakfast,
first a flight to Arusha followed by another flight
to Nairobi where services end. For those persons who
require an additional night in Nairobi, this can be
easily booked by Sundance Spirit in which case you would
be transferred to the Nairobi Serena Hotel for check
in.
