Mara Serena
Safari Lodge |
It
is on this terrain that the Great Migration takes
place anually .. when millions of wildebeest,
gazelle & zebra traverse out from the Serengeti
in Tanzania to feed on the lush new grasses in
the Masai Mara & to give birth to their young.
The Mara Serena Safari Lodge has wonderful views
of this surrounding landscape. Set on a saddle
of a hillside overlooking the 1800 sq kms of rolling
plains, woodlands & rivers that make up the
Masai Mara triangle – one of the world’s
richest wildlife reserves & sanctuaries.
74 Ivory class huts are constructed to allow
each room to have a relatively uninterrupted
view. Each room has a queen sized bed (or two
twin beds can be arranged) & en-suite bathroom
facilities.

Keekorok
Lodge |
Keekorok Lodge was built in
the direct path of the Great Migration &
at the time of its completion, was the first
lodge in the Masai Mara. At the height of the
migration the Lodge is surrounded by millions
of wildebeest, zebra & gazelle along with
the ever present array of predators ( lion,
cheetah, hyena & leopard ) who await this
annual period of ´feasting´. There
is hardly a need to go on a game drive during
this period as much of what one can & does
witness away from the Lodge, takes place within
view of the accommodation units & main lodge
facilities anyway.
Accommodation here
is either in bungalow styled units, single story
blocks & shaded chalets. Liberal use od
cedar wood, pink & grey Sand River stone
& other indigenous building materials offset
the colourful bougainvillas & manicured
lawns. The food is prepared by International
chefs who combine local cuisine with a wide
variety of recognized faire.
There is a 300m
wooden raised walking platform winding through
the forest in front of the Lodge leading to
a thatched sundowner bar overlooking the Masai
Mara plains. Here a resident hippo herd supine
in the shallows of a water hole pool.
Keekorok Lodge is NOT fenced, therefore is not
uncommon to have all manner of animals come
wandering through at their leisure – it
is after all, their domain. Elephant & buffalo
enjoy the shade on the perimeter of the grounds
& at night, lion & especially hyena
nose about. Guests will be appraised of personal
security issues & measures when they arrive
– remember, the animals here rule &
it is humans who are the intruders.
There is a guest
swimming pool & arrangements are easily
made for guests who wish to experience a dawn
hot air balloon flight ending in a champagne
breakfast in a bush location – something
we certainly recommend as exhilarating &
fun.
In the evenings,
most guests congregate around the lounge log
fire to swop experiences & meet others from
around the world.
Keekorok
Lodge provides :
•
Standard room twin & double bed accomodation
with private bathroom facilities.
• Guest Swimming Pool.
• Alternative evening Maasai traditional
dancing & entertainment
• Major credit cards are accepted.
Additional
& Extra Cost:
• Guided game drives in custom safari
4 x 4 vehicles.

Lake Nakuru
Lodge |
Situated in the south eastern
part of Lake Nakuru National Park, famous for
the lesser & greater flamingo populations
which populate the lake, Lake Nakuru Lodge blends
ecologically into its setting, so much so that
animals browse peacefully close much to the
fascination of guests.
This region is one of Kenya´s most densely
populated animal & bird wetlands, only two
hours drive on a first class paved highway,
156kms from Nairobi. It is also accessible by
air charter which takes no more than 25 minutes
from Nairobi´s Wilson Airport to the bush
landing strip adjacent to the lodge.
The National Park is quite small ( 155 sq kms
) & is fully fenced to contain the animal
populations from straying into agricultural
lands. Here, a resurgence of both black &
white rhino is being carefully managed with
the present population numbering 55 rhino which
is multiplying annually. The park also boasts
Rothschild Giraffe, leopard, wild dog, eland,
zebra & territorial lion.
The lodge has 60 rooms, set up as doubles or
family accommodation suites & dining is
provided either outside in a ´boma´
setting or at an African theme night BBQ &
Sundowner.
Activities include game drives, bird watching
& horse-back riding safaris.
The lodge has a spacious logged fired bar (
Mama Nikki´s ) & a cool upstairs Rhino
Paddock cocktail lounge overlooking the swimming
pool & the lake. On offer also for guests
is evening entertainment & slide presentations.
