The Etosha Park (inaugurated in 1958) is located north of Windhoek, & derives its name from the word ''etosha'' which means ´place of dry water´ or a ´huge, white area´.

The park can be entered through either Andersson Gate (Okaukuejo - 435km from Windhoek) or the Von Lindequist (Namutoni - 530 km from Windhoek)

It is one of the Africa's largest parks covering area of 22 270 sq km.

The Etosha pan's size is 4590 sq km, while all pans cover more than 5100 sq km.

History. Game Reserve 2, proclaimed by German Governor Friedrich Von Lindequist in 1907, comprised the Etosha pan & most of Kaokoland, covering almost 100 000 sq km.

The park was reduced in 1947 by allocating Kaokoland to Herero.

According to recommendations of Odendaal Commission (1962) the park's area was reduced even further. The present size of the park is 77 per cent less than before the Odendaal Commission.

Best time to visit is in winter which is usually cool & dry in the park. At this time of year the game tends to stay closer to water holes & chances to spot species are considerably better.

The rainy season normally begins at the end of October - beginning of November. Average rainfall figures: Okaukuejo: 412mm, Halali: 430mm, Namutoni: 442mm.

Sossusvlei is one of the most remarkable sites in the Namib-Naukluft Park & the Namib Desert.

The sand dunes of Sossusvlei in the Namib Desert are often called the highest in the world. Various arguments are laid out to support this claim, but all miss the point, which is that Sossusvlei is surely one of the most spectacular sights in Namibia.
Located in the Namib-Naukluft park, the largest conservation area in Africa, & fourth largest in the world - the sand dunes at Sossusvlei are an excellent reason to visit Namibia.

Safaris in 4x4 Landrovers, start early in the morning which is by far-&-away the best time to see the dunes. Guests will get to explore the dunes by vehicle & on foot.

The changing colours & the spectacle of Oryx antelope with their rapier-like horns against red sand dunes are images which visitors & photographers from the four corners of the world come to savour & capture on film.

The Skeleton Coast is one of this planet's most beautiful & raw places. It derives its name from the bones & shipwrecks scattered along its beaches.  This place is one of the most inhospitable & least visited on earth.

Close to 300,000 hectares of the 2 million hectare National Park has been set aside for an exclusive safari experience for those wishing to really get away. It is wild, desolate & virtually uninhabited, elements that combine to make this spot stunningly beautiful.

The Skeleton Coast has everything, from soaring sand dunes that roar, wonderful vast pastel coloured plains, towering canyons & mountains, salt pans to seal colonies & ghostly shipwrecks.

The Benguela Current brings cool, plankton & fish rich waters all the way from Antarctica, moderating the temperatures in the region.

Temperatures year-round vary from a high of 28 degrees Celsius to a low of 10 degrees Celsius. Summers are incredibly mild, even though we are in the desert. The cool ocean air meets the warm desert air & nearly every morning dense wet mists cover the coastline, bringing life-sustaining moisture to the desert's fauna & flora.

Safaris here are unlike safaris in other regions. Breakfast is enjoyed in camp & then guests head out all day into the Park taking along a picnic lunch, ample beverages & only return at sunset. The days are full, rewarding & enriching, offering an experience that will rival anything in Africa for those who enjoy the excitement of wild & remote places.

Damaraland & the Kaokoveld are one of the most scenic areas in Namibia, prehistoric water courses with open plained grassland, massive granite koppies & distant mountains create the Damaraland landscape.

Game species in this region include desert elephant, black rhino, ostrich & springbok.

The Brandberg & Spitzkoppe are two favorite places for climbers in Namibia, with both mountains contain a high density of San-bushman art.

The facilities here at Spitzkoppe camp are very basic, but are being constantly improved. Bush camping is allowed at Brandberg, but there are no facilities at all & visitors should bring absolutely everything they conceivably think they will require.,

Safaris in Damaraland are concentrated around the Huab River flora & fauna. Activities are carried out primarily in the early mornings & later afternoons with the occasional night walk or drive. At night the stargazing is ´par excellence` with crystal-clear night skies. A highlight of any safari to this region is to behold the sighting of desert elephant & rhino.
